The Ringling Announces the Return of Popular Homeschool Programs Homeschool Third Thursdays and ROAR Return This Fall

Sarasota, Florida- The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is pleased to announce the return of their popular programming for students learning from home. As the new school year kicks off, The Ringling will once again offer the popular Homeschool Third Thursdays for all students in kindergarten to 12th grade and ROAR (Ringling Order of Art Readers) for children under seven.

Katie Nickel, The Ringling’s School and teacher Program Coordinator said, “The Ringling offered robust programming for homeschool students last year and we are looking forward to welcoming back all of our families and hope to see many new ones, as well. Home schooling has always provided a wonderful option for many families and now, with the COVID pandemic, it has become necessary for more students to be educated at home. The Ringling education staff has put together a comprehensive and fun collection of activities for families to engage with the museum and create art from home.”

Each month, the programming will feature new material, centered around a monthly theme. Utilizing both the resources of The Ringling and hands-on learning, students will engage in lessons such as Circus STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) and Selfie Image: The Power of Portraits.

There are three ways that families can engage with the homeschool programming. Art making activities are always available on the museum’s website at On the third Thursday of each month, children under seven can enjoy a story time and an art making activity during a live ROAR program via Facebook Live at 10:30 a.m. At 1 p.m.  students can participate in a live, interactive Virtual Tour.
